India's first private rocket reached orbit — from a company that existed before the law did (11 minute read)

Skyroot's Vikram-1 became the first privately built Indian rocket to reach orbit on July 18. It reached success on the first attempt and delivered a payload to about 450 km. India has no space statute, and its entire private space industry runs on executive policy. Skyroot is targeting roughly one rocket launch a month from 2027.

Elon Musk's Terafab in Grimes County, Texas, is slated to top 100 million square feet. The factory will function as a joint supply chain for SpaceX and Tesla. It will combine logic, memory, and advanced packaging under one roof. Construction is projected to cost $16.8 billion. Eight tax incentive applications have been filed on behalf of the project, asking for tax breaks so the project has a more favorable after-tax return.
