Congratulations are in order for Zara Larsson, who has officially joined the elite club of “Khia Asylum” escapees. If you’re thinking, What in the Girl, Interrupted is the Khia Asylum?, we’ll explain. The Khia Asylum is a proverbial pop purgatory for artists who’ve had one or two bangers but have since languished in relative obscurity. And if it sounds like something that could’ve only come from the vivid minds of the chronically online (or, more accurately, Stan Twitter), you’re not wrong. As with all the best pop culture contributions, the whole thing took off following a 2024 meme (Selena Gomez, you deserved better) — though the reference to Khia dates back to 2014, when people poked fun at a picture of a fan meeting Khia, the rapper whose 2002 hit permanently changed the way we think of the words “neck” and “back.” Over time, other residents of this liminal space have included Ava Max, Sabrina Carpenter, Bebe Rexha (documenting Day 3,051 of her sentence should count as time served), Camila Cabello, and Charli XCX — who, thanks to a specific shade of green, provided the best case study for breaking out of the Khia Asylum.

That is, until Larsson reemerged on the scene in a cloud of pink glitter. In the decade since “Never Forget You” (we promise, three seconds in and it’ll all come back) blasted at bars and frat parties, the Swedish singer was trapped within the asylum gates. But then came the exceptionally left-field, Lisa Frank-coded dolphin memes (this one still wins) — which Larsson wisely embraced as she released 2025’s Midnight Sun. Case in point? The album cover that would’ve plastered our childhood bedroom walls and the aesthetic giving 1997 Claire’s (complimentary). Add to that: a Grammy nom, a cool girl collab with PinkPantheress (made even cooler by a certain Olympic figure skater’s routine), and the viral “Lush Life” dance that has everyone from Gen X (we weren’t prepared for this Today cohost to be so good) to Gen Alpha (this healed us) in a chokehold. Not to mention, Larsson also got the seal of approval from an unlikely music legend, so it’s no wonder she’s declaring herself free from the Khia Asylum — at least, for now. Because as Charli reminded us, the asylum always has a room waiting for you.

Another week, another internet spiral over a girl wearing clothes. Yes, we’re talking about Olivia Rodrigo and the unofficial uniform of her You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love era: the babydoll dress. Last weekend, Rodrigo took the stage in Barcelona wearing what looked straight out of our grandma’s nightgown collection…except two feet shorter and paired with frilly lace bloomers. That apparently sent some social media users over the edge, with many deeming it “infantilizing” and something “we have to talk about.” (Spoiler: We don’t.) Now, we’ll leave the fashion history lessons to the pros, but there are two things worth noting. Rodrigo’s outfit is way less revealing than half (OK, all) the naked dresses that’ve taken the red carpet in recent years. And it’s a dead ringer for virtually every outfit from the ‘90s riot grrrl scene, in which babydoll dresses were worn with smeared lipstick and combat boots to flip the script on what “feminine” was supposed to look like. Which, as it turns out, is exactly who Rodrigo was inspired by. Oh, and she’s in good company, too. Days after Rodrigo’s concert, Taylor Swift also stepped out in a babydoll dress. Coincidence? Sign of solidarity? Who knows, but good 4 them.

Weeks after Josh Groban revealed his Disney Adult-coded engagement, Katy Perry marked the occasion by…very publicly reminding us he was “The One That Got Away”? Whatever happened to sending a card?

You can officially call off your fifth Heated Rivalry reheat. Off Campus is here to deliver a fresh batch of hockey boys, enemies-to-lovers tension, and questionable college decision-making. Set at a fictional New England university, the Prime Video series — which is based on the enormously popular Elle Kennedy book series and was renewed for season 2 before you even pressed play — follows Hannah (Ella Bright), a music major with a crush on moody wannabe rockstar Justin (Josh Heuston). She strikes a deal with Garrett (Belmont Cameli), the school’s ice hockey captain who’s failing the class Hannah’s acing: She’ll tutor him if he helps her get Justin by pretending to date. Like its predecessor, there’s instant chemistry, at least one extremely horny locker room scene, and a general understanding that none of us are actually here for the hockey. Puck yeah.

What’s the summer sweater we like again?
