🩺 This doctor is always on call: OpenAI rolled out ChatGPT Health to all US users last week, letting people connect their medical records and health apps to get personalized answers and recommendations. The company claims the latest AI models can reason “at levels that are better than clinician level,” though it says the chatbot is meant to support, not replace, medical professionals. Maybe your mom will finally agree med school wasn’t a good idea?

🌖 One small step for AI: Colorado-based startup Lunar Outpost said it will bring Nvidia chips along for the ride on upcoming lunar missions. The startup will use the AI chips to help its lunar rovers operate autonomously and speed up communication back to Earth. If successful, it could one day build real-time maps, stream high-res video, or help NASA establish a permanent lunar base.

🌿 Count your days, weeds: Oxford spinout Moa Technology is developing herbicides that attack weeds in new ways, as 500+ types of weeds worldwide have become resistant to existing herbicides. The startup says it’s already identified 80+ new biological targets for herbicides, and that its recent $30m raise will help develop new weed-killing compounds and molecules that can amp up existing herbicides.

Take a deep breath: Researchers at ETH Zurich developed a handheld breathalyzer that can tell whether your body is burning fat from a single exhale, giving people on weight-loss plans faster feedback than the bathroom scale.
On budget, baby: Fertility startup The American Baby Co. raised $4m to open its first clinic, offering IVF for $8,995 — compared to the average US cost of $25k — by using AI and standardized care to lower costs.

Having kids? In this economy? If you’re part of the ~30% of Americans unsure about starting a family, don’t fret.

Keltie Maguire spent years being ambivalent and unsure, too.

“Why don't I just know which path is right for me? When's this going to happen? Am I broken? Is this something hormonal? Did something happen in my past to cause me to not have this desire?” she wondered. “It was almost like I couldn't choose either path.”

The more she thought about it, the more she realized others might need help making the life-altering decision, too. So she made that indecision her business.

In 2021, Maguire, who is based in Munich, expanded her life-coaching business to include what she calls motherhood clarity coaching.

“I noticed that a lot of the questions I was asking my career and business coaching clients – like, what sort of life are you building? How do you ultimately want to feel? – could be applied to that question. And those were also questions I had been asking myself,” she told The Hustle.

Is that something people actually pay for? Yes, yes it is. Hundreds of them, in fact.

Maguire’s offerings include 1:1 sessions, at a rate of $2.8k for four months…
And group workshops — with sometimes as many as 40 or 50 attendees — that start at $59…
In addition to the hundred episodes she’s produced of her monthly podcast.

She’s not the only one helping potential parents make tough calls: There’s clarity coach Ann Davidman, who has been guiding prospective dads and moms for 30+ years, and online courses, social media communities, and books on the topic.

“A lot of it is really asking questions. What’s working? What’s not working? What do they want more of in their lives? What kind of experiences are important for you in your life? Who are you as a person?” she continues.

“I think of it as creating the canvas or foundation on which this decision is laid.”

Maguire’s next offering is geared toward parents trying to decide if they’re up for round two.

Cost to hire a “potty-training consultant,” which is an actual job title thanks to some wealthy professionals who’d prefer to leave the poopy part of parenting to someone else — and apparently a lot of the other parts as well. These busy “CEO parents,” The Wall Street Journal found, are no longer employing just one nanny but entire teams to handle all the tedium of childrearing, from teaching their kids how to ride a bike ($80-$450 per session) to packing their bags for summer camp (~$125).

This way, the time they do block off for their kids, Skims co-founder Emma Grede told WSJ, can be spent making “high-impact, core memories,” which is the weirdly corporate way their children will one day refer to childhood nostalgia.
