EDITOR’S NOTE

Happy Sunday. Anyone who’s ever lived with someone else knows there are few things better than having the house to yourself for a couple of days. I’ve been making the most of it by rewatching early Grey’s Anatomy (highly recommend) and unapologetically scrolling. A few of my best finds?

If wearing corduroy pants makes you feel like a certain children’s book bear, rejoice: This is how Cool Girls are pulling off cords for fall. The first look is giving “The White Lotus takes Vermont,” and I need it now.
Blame it on my high school job at Panera, but here’s a hill I’ll gladly die on: The top of a muffin is the only part worth eating. That’s why I’ll be making these Pumpkin Muffin Tops this afternoon. They come together in about 30 minutes, and there’s no mixer required.
File this under Rich People Who Rich Right: Julianne Moore gave Architectural Digest a tour of her “small” apartment (with “several terraces,” mind you), and who knew a ceramic egg tower was a thing?
Want to trick everyone into thinking you just got back from Paris Fashion Week? (More on that in a bit.) These are the fall outfit formulas French Girls swear by. No. 2, enchantée.
On behalf of literally every human on Earth, I beg you not to commit The Most Egregious Airplane Faux Pas of All Time. No, not watching Saltburn on the seat-back entertainment system.

👖 Your jeans deserve a break. Fashion People can’t stop talking about this effortlessly cool denim alternative, which is just as easy to wear and precisely 10 times more expensive looking.

⭐ The season’s chicest heels all have one detail in common — and somewhere, your prom date is feeling very vindicated. Gold star for Josh.

✂️ Curtain bangs, it’s been real. Florence Pugh cosigned fall’s most polarizing haircut trend. Cue the (eternal) debate: Should we get bangs?

🫠 Millennials, avert your eyes: We’ve officially reached the Frosted Tips stage of the Y2K revival — and apparently that crunch is now worth embracing. Respectfully, no.

💄 Dust off your stockpile of 2010s lipsticks. Taylor Swift’s signature makeup look is having another moment. Which raises the question: Do lipsticks expire? Asking for a friend.

We’re calling it: We’ve reached Peak Josh Hartnettaissance — something you might’ve clocked if you’re a millennial who knows an odd amount about Pearl Harbor. Sure, the former teen heartthrob has had his moments over the last couple of years, namely as a “Grade-A Murder Daddy” in Trap (a movie we’ll be watching ASAP) and a nuclear physicist in Oppenheimer (did you also forget about this moment?). But after spending most of the past two decades “on hiatus from people’s minds,” the proud dad of four kids and five dogs (watch out, Robert De Niro) is suddenly everywhere. That’s largely thanks to Below (aka “Netflix’s answer to Widow’s Bay”) and Verity, the bonkers Colleen Hoover adaptation whose production somehow sounds even more unhinged than its plot. While filming Verity, Hartnett endured being “poisoned” (OK, severely food poisoned), an extremely concerning on-set diet, and an Anne Hathaway prank he described as “the most terrifying moment of the last 10 years of my life.” And that’s on top of his then-12-year-old goddaughter’s offensive comments about his age (we will never forgive her).

But the press tour? A delight. Mr. Hotnett “declared open season on overcoats” (men everywhere, take note), delivered History’s Greatest Freudian Slip while naming his favorite Taylor Swift album, and had the most relatable reaction to Drew Barrymore playing footage from his high school play (the words “panic attack” were used). Not to mention, there was the friend trio we never knew we needed: The Man Who Hates Trucker Hats and his Verity costars Dakota Johnson and Anne Hathaway. During the usual rounds, Hartnett discovered he was living Johnson’s dream (no, not being married to a Brit), revealed he knows nothing about basketball (Knicks fans, consider yourselves warned), opened up about cutting Heidi Klum’s merkin (words we never thought we’d publish), and educated 99% of Americans on “screeching in” — the interesting rite of passage for honorary Newfoundlanders, like Hartnett. As for what’s next? Something tells us it’s not the adaptation of Yesteryear.

Mika Abdalla, Rachel Ojuromi, and Kristen Wiig

Au revoir to another Paris Fashion Week. Of course, the runways gave us plenty to unpack (we’ll need three to five business days to process the “freaky footwear”), but we’d be lying if we said the clothes were the only thing we were watching. Here’s who had the best PFW, ranked.

5️⃣ Off Campus costars Mika Abdalla and Josh Heuston. Seemingly hard-launching your relationship at PFW? Kinda (correction: très) chic.

4️⃣ Nepo babies. These days, the catwalks are basically the nepo baby equivalent of a deb ball. But this year, the front row had more mother-daughter dates than afternoon tea at the Plaza. Case in point: Keri Russell and her rarely seen 13-year-old look-alike, Willa.

3️⃣ Olivia Colman. There will officially be no greater celebrity-on-the-runway moment than the wife of a wicker husband walking at Miu Miu. Designers everywhere, wrap it up.

2️⃣ Kristen Wiig & Co. An unexpected sighting of the World’s Favorite Bridesmaid™ in the Chanel front row would’ve been enough. But add in Pedro Pascal, Dua Lipa, and Nicole Kidman lip-synching to a certain Adéla song with Wiig? Hello, dream blunt rotation. We are ready to paarrtyyy.

1️⃣ Rachel Ojuromi. As in, the 22-year-old Nigerian “It” Girl whose videos stomping through the streets of Lagos caught the eye of Chanel creative director Matthieu Blazy — and led to her runway debut. Cue the Hollywood biopic.

Thank you, Marlins Man, for documenting your encounter with this “nice and friendly” couple at the Yankees game, who “got married in June in Italy.” Dua Lipa, we need confirmation that this was indeed your first hot dog and your first baseball game.

Slow Horses hive, rise up: Your favorite MI5 agent is finally getting her main-character moment. Well, kind of. In the new film Misty Green, written and directed by Chris Rock, Rosalind Eleazar plays the title character, a once-beloved Emmy-winning actress who’s now in her late 30s and can barely land a part on Law & Order. Things get worse when it turns out the man who gave her his beachfront condo has a widow — and she wants it back. That leaves Green with seven days to find a new place, book enough work to pay for it, and, oh, right, take care of her brother (Daniel Kaluuya), who shows up at her door after being released from a psychiatric center. And it doesn’t help that she’s an unapologetic party girl with a reputation for being “difficult.” But her luck may be turning: Jordan (Rock), a director who once fired her, thinks she might have what it takes to star in his Dreamgirls reboot. Add in Adam Driver as her sleazy now-and-then hookup and Anna Kendrick as her best friend — and you’ve got what some are calling “the Best Movie About Hollywood in Years.” Sorry, La La Land.

What are the running sneakers we like again?

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 25

New to running? Admirable. These are the beginner-friendly sneakers we wish we’d started with. Unlike the brand’s typical Princess and the Pea-esque cushioning, this pair is lighter and more structured, so you can feel the ground beneath your feet. They also encourage proper alignment, creating healthier habits for what will surely become a long, storied running career. (We believe in you.) A mesh upper keeps your feet ventilated, and while these are ideal for road running, they work equally well on a treadmill. We’ve even been known to wear ours on intense errand runs — since the streamlined silhouette doesn’t scream running shoes.
